Hello again, McCleery Men!
And… a belated Happy Father’s Day to all our fathers in the group.
What a beautiful weekend to play golf! Conditions were fantastic for another individual stroke play battle, and the field was over-flowing, using one extra tee-time to fit everyone into the competition. Hard to believe it, but the Men’s Club at McCleery is turning 60 this year! We’re all aging like fine wine…
Once again, 3 flights of competition duked it out, matching players of similar playing ability for gross and net prizes. Results in detail can be found here.
NOTABLES: David Ng played to an 81 (net-63), beating his nearest competitor in the Silver flight (Rory Matheson) by 4 strokes. Graeme Conlon and Wade Ferley tied for low gross in the Gold flight with 80 (from the Blue tees), but by virtue of his higher handicap, Ferley also earned low net score (72) — giving them each an opportunity to share the top spots all alone in the Gold flight. Finally, Phil Tannahill rejoined us this weekend to take home the top prize in the Bronze flight (gross-87), with Alan Thom shooting an impressive net-65 to go home a champion in the net division.
Skins pots went to Graeme Conlon (gross) and Alan Thom (net). Each category had a total of 6 players with individual skins, combining both Saturday and Sunday.
Names to appear on the Bill Rochford Memorial Trophy for 2019:
Gold — Graeme Conlon (gross-80) and Wade Ferley (net-72)
Silver — David Ng (gross-81) and John Dawson (net-68)
Bronze — Phil Tannahill (gross-87) and Alan Thom (net-65)
Way to go, boys! Excellent form.
Best,
Christian.
