It promised to be a ‘down to the wire’ finish for the Molsons Cup, with only a couple of points separating 1st and 2nd place in the Gold flight, plus a tie entering the tournament for the Silver flight. In the end, the cream rose to the top, and Gilbertson/Ross took the Cup with Elgan Ross scoring 2 deuces on the front nine, and Ty Gilbertson scoring a couple of birdies on the back nine. For the Silver flight, Mallen/Guenette knew it was going to be a rough day when David Ng hit a gross birdie on the very first hole. It was 4-up for the Ng/White team after the first nine, and it looked like they were going to run away with it. However, some fine scoring by Mike Mallen (including a nice birdie on hole #12) brought their team to within 1 point with only 2 holes to play. Guenette’s abysmal drives and chips could not help his team on the next hole, and they lost the 17th by 2 points, ending up finishing 3 points behind overall. Congrats to the winners!
For the Stage 3 tournament (a tournament in and of itself), the winner of the Gold flight was Hazell/Geipel, with a net score of 63, and winners of the Silver flight were Lemont/Gordon with a net score of 62! Congrats to these teams, who were put together at the last minute. Well done, boys!
